The al-Fakhkh revolution was not completely independent of the seventh Imam (as).
Detailed Answer:
The al-Fakhkh revolution was not completely independent of the seventh Imam (as). Although Imam Musa al-Kaẓim predicted the defeat of Hussain bin Ali, he still kept in touch with him and when he saw Hussains determination to revolt he said the following to him “Although you will be martyred in your expedition, strive tirelessly in your fighting and attacks, these are a filthy and corrupt people who have worn the clothes of faith on the apparent level, but they have no belief in their hearts. I pray that God rewards you greatly for your efforts”[1].
Hadi, the Abbasid caliph at the time of the revolt strongly believed that Imam Musa Al-Kaẓim, who was the head of the Shiites and most honoured descendant of the Prophet at the time, had secretly played a role in guiding and managing this revolution, giving it his full support. For this reason he threatened the Imam (as) saying “By God, Hussain (Sahib Fakh), revolted against me on the orders of Musa bin Ja`far, for there is no leader or elder in this family other than Musa bin Ja`far, may God kill me if I let him live”[2].
Although Imam Al-Kaẓim paid no attention to this threat, nor showed the slightest signs of being worried, the Shiites were struck with fear. However much to the pleasure of the Shiites , Hadi died before he could have his evil wishes carried out.
It is narrated that Imam Jawad (as) said “After the tragedy of Karbala, there was no tragedy upon us as great as that of Fakh”.[3,4]
