Question:Why are Shi`ahs more known for dissimulation than the others?
Answer: Because they were annoyed and tortured a lot by the rulers of ´Umawi and `Abbasi, since in that period if someone was just called Shi`ah or a follower of the Household of Prophet (a.s.), he would be condemned to death immediately and killed by the enemies of the Household of Prophet (a.s.) so they had no choice but to perform dissimulation and for this Imams (a.s.) advised them to perform dissimulation. It has been quoted f r o m Imam Ja`far Sadiq (a.s.) that said: “Taqiyyah is my religion and my fathers’ religion” and said: “a person who doesn’t perform Taqiyyah is not religious.” So, Taqiyyah was the motto of Imams of the Household of Prophet (a.s.) by which removed any damage f r o m themselves, their followers and their lovers and saved Muslims’ life. But Sunnis didn’t suffer f r o m those torments and afflictions since they compromised with tyrant and unjust rulers so they weren`t exposed to death, not pillaged nor oppressed then it was so natural that they denied Taqiyyah and criticized it’s followers. Moreover, rulers of Bani ´Umayyah and Bani `Abbas played an important role in deriding Shi`ah about Taqiyyah and regretfully Sunnis followed them too.¹
