Question: is it appropriate to say that those who give false attribute to God and His messenger are just people?
Answer: Ahzaab is one of well-known battles in Islam. Both of wrong-doers and the Yahuds tried to defeat Islam. 10000 armed soldiers surrounded Medina. For restricting the invasion of enemy, Muslims dug Khandagh (a very deep hole). This surrounding lasted around one month. In this battle, the companions of messenger of God –S.A- had been tested. Steady companions and unsteady ones were recognized. There were two groups of companions:
First, those who considered God’s promises to be true and their belief and faith increased “
When the believers saw the confederates they said: 'this is what allah and his messenger have promised us. Surely, Allah and his messenger have spoken in truth. ' and this did not increase them except in belief and submission”. (1)
Second, the hypocrites and those in whose hearts there was a disease “
the hypocrites and those in whose hearts there is a disease said: 'allah and his messenger promised nothing but delusion” . (2)
Those believers who were unsteady in faith thought that God had gave them false promises. Can we consider them to be just and pure? In previous verse, in addition to these unsteady believers it was referred to the hypocrites who in spite of pretending to be Muslims were disbelievers.
By accurately reading the verses of Al-Ahzaab (The Clans) Sura, you can see that how much companions strived against troops of enemy! Many of them asked leave of messenger of God –S.A-, The Exalted God says:”
and when a party of them said: 'people of yathrib (madinah), there is no place for you here, therefore return. ' and a party of them asked leave of the prophet, saying: 'our houses are exposed' whereas they were not, they only wished to flee”. (3) (4)
