Question: Who have confirmed the tradition of "Yawm al-Dar"?
Answer: There is not any doubt about the correctness of document of "Yawm al-Dar" tradition. Some have confirmed the correctness of this tradition and some have considered it as a tradition with various chains of narrators (Mutawater). Now we mention some statements in this regard:
1- When Abil Hadid quotes this event in his book, Sharh of Nahj al-Balaghah, says that: «انّه روى فی الخبر الصحیح...» "Surely, this event has been narrated correctly."
2- Muttaqi Hindi has said in the Kanzul Ummal book(1) that Tabari has considered the document of this tradition as a correct one. He has said that Tabari has quoted this tradition in his Tarikh book without any objection to its document and some others have also quoted the tradition with the same document, without any objection to its document. Since Tabari couldn’t change the document of the tradition he planned to make some alternations in the text of tradition in his Tafsir.
3- Abu Ja'far Iskafi Mu'tazali in his answer to Hafiz has considered the document of this tradition as a correct one.(2)
4- Shaikh Mufid (May God bless his soul) says that:«و ذلک فی حدیث الدار الّذی اجمع على صحته نقّاد الآثار» "And it is the tradition of "Dar" that the critics of traditions are agreed about its correctness.(3)
5- Abu Salah Halabi in the "Taqribul Ma'arif" says that: «و قد اطبق الناقلون من الفریقین على هذا النقل کنقلهم المعجزات» "The narrators of both sects (of Sunni and Shia) are agreed about the narration of this event as they do about the quotation of miracles.(4)
6- Ahmad Ibn Hanbal has quoted this tradition in Al Musnad book with correct tradition.(5)
7- Ibn Athir has counted the story as one of the historical facts in al-Kamil.(6)
8- This tradition has been narrated in "Tafsir Tabri" and by Ibn Abi Hatam Razi and Baghawi. Ibn Taimiyah has relied on their books in the "Minhaj al-Sunnah". He says about Ibn Tabri and Ibn Abi Hatam and some others of commentators that they are from those who do not quote false traditions.(7)
In addition, he says that: They are from those who told the truth about Islam and their explanations includes some quoted traditions on them is relied for explanation.(8)
9- This tradition is from the traditions of "Al Mukhtarah" book by Ziya' Muqaddasi who has confirmed the correctness of its traditions, and Hafiz Ibn Hajar for proving the correctness of one of the traditions says that:" This tradition is from the traditions that Ziya' Muqaddasi has quoted in "Al Mukhtarah" from "Al Mu'jam al-Kabir" book, and Ibn Taimiyah has specified that the traditions of "Al Mukhtarah" are corrector and stronger than the traditions of Mustadrak.(9)
10- The narration of "Yawm al-Dar" is one of the tenth prominent points that is attributed to Imam Ali (a.s) exclusively and it has been quoted from ibn Abbas in a correct way.(10) (11)
